Please support Playfight by making a donation below.

Your donation will support the production and the development of a multiform engagement programme which will raise awareness around the plays themes of sexual consent, control and coercion in adolescent relationships. As a charity run by freelance artists, we work responsively to the world around us and need the support of our community, audiences and stakeholders to make our work happen.

An Edinburgh Festival smash hit, Playfight by Julia Grogan is a “marvellous jewel of a play” (★★★★★ The Times) that shines a vivid light on adolescent desire in a landscape of rising sexual violence.

Playfight, by emerging Midlands writer Julia Grogan, is the story of 3 teenage girls navigating issues of sexual consent and control, written in response to the unprecedented rise in sexual violence within adolescent relationships.

Theatre Uncut are committed to raising awareness around this topic and this fundraiser will support the development of a groundbreaking multiform engagement programme. We’re partnering with experts in bystander intervention training to offer youth workers, teachers and young people a space to safely engage with the themes of the play and address this urgent societal issue. We will also offer political playwriting workshops and a digital platform for monologue responses to the play.

Theatre Uncut’s charitable aim is to raise awareness and fuel debate on issues of social injustice. We provide access to high quality new writing for everyone, everywhere. We have a strong track record of producing award winning political new writing including co-pros with the Royal Court, Young Vic and Sherman Theatre. We create new models for digital and participatory engagement and have facilitated hundreds of participant performances in the UK and 26 other countries.
