We are looking for new voices and perspectives to join our Board of Trustees
Theatre Uncut create bold, progressive, and uncompromising political theatre. We work with the world’s leading writers and extraordinary new voices to create trailblazing work that examines the world we live in today.
The central mission of Theatre Uncut is to tackle social inequality by supporting playwrights to create new political playwriting that raises awareness and encourages debate on issues of social and environmental injustice. By presenting our work in theatres, online and releasing it free of charge for groups across the world to perform we aim to galvanise action that holds both government and corporations to account in creating a fairer society.
Theatre Uncut is at an important moment of development and we are looking to diversify the skills, backgrounds, and perspectives within the organisation’s governance to support our ambitions. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who identify as political theatre artists and those who have experience in finance for mid-scale theatre companies.
Candidates will ideally bring a good understanding of the company and although they do not need any previous board experience an understanding of governance is encouraged. They should be altruistic, confident, focused, open and an active and reflective listener. Communication skills and an ability to be a compelling advocate for Theatre Uncut will be important, as will a strong commitment to the performing arts and an empathy for Theatre Uncut’s mission to raise awareness of political and social issues through the new writing.
We are looking for Trustees who can bring fresh perspective and insight to the company through their lived and professional experiences.
Trustees will be expected to attend four Board meetings per year and attendance at Theatre Uncut events.
